Foreign casualties reported in Beirut blast

(VOVWORLD) -Two employees of the Belgian Embassy in Lebanon and members of their families have suffered injuries as a result of a massive explosion in Beirut on Tuesday.

The Belgian foreign minister Philippe Goffin said two embassy officials and two of their family members were slightly injured by glass shards. 

Staff members at the German Embassy in Beirut were also injured in the blast, according to the German Foreign Office. 

The Philippines reported their citizen casualties, including two deaths and six injured. Indonesia and Australia each reported one death.

Lebanon’s President Michel Aoun declared a state of emergency for two weeks in the capital Beirut. He said the government would release 100 billion lira (66 million USD) of emergency funds.
