(VOVworld) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday discussed in a telephone call the Syrian situation, the implementation of the Minsk peace agreement in Ukraine, and relations between Libya and Yemen.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that during the US-initiated conversation the two officials focused on specific measures to resolve the civil war in Syria based on the UN Security Council’s resolutions and activities of both sides as co-chairs of the International Syria Support Group.

Lavrov and Kerry discussed implementation of the ceasefire in Syria and underlined the need to strengthen military coordination to resolve the Yemeni conflict.

Their phone talk touched on UN efforts to end the war in Yemen and start negotiations towards a political settlement.
