The forum organized by the Vietnam Tourism Association included two discussion sessions: green transformation awareness and green transformation solutions for Vietnamese tourism.

Since 2018, the Vietnam Tourism Association has launched the movement "Vietnam Tourism - Joining hands to reduce plastic waste" which has been responded by tourism businesses, according to Vu The Binh, Chairman of Vietnam Tourism Association. 

“The Association proactively mobilizes businesses nationwide to implement green transformation to protect the environment and ensure Vietnam tourism develops into a green economic sector based on the development of green tourism products and services. It’s more important to raise awareness and action of the system of Vietnamese tourism businesses,” Binh said. 

Participants said that tourism’s green growth needs to be done in parallel with technological innovation, efficient use of energy, increased proportion of renewable energy sources, and emission reduction.

They stressed the need to strengthen tourism destination management, capitalize on effectiveness of tourism development policies and digital transformation. In addition, stakeholders were urged to develop responsible tourism, create job opportunities, and share benefits with the community.
