Co-organized by the Vietnam Women’s Union and UN Women, the event encouraged women’s contribution to disaster prevention and climate change response, contributing to implementing the National Target Program on Climate Change Response, the Law on natural disaster prevention and control, and an action plan of the Vietnam Women’s Union. Elisa Fernandez, Country Representative of UN Women, said: "I would encourage you to continue building upon the Hanoi recommendations for action to mainstream gender equality in the SENDAI implementation, which is the outcome document of the Asia Pacific conference on gender and natural disaster risk reduction hosted by Vietnam’s government in 2015."
