(VOVworld) - The two rounds of France's Presidential elections will take place on April 23 and May 7 next year, according to French government spokesperson Stephane Le Foll.

Leader of the French National Front Party Marine Le Pen officially announced her intention to run for the election.

The Republicans will select a candidate for the election in November this year. Potential candidates include Alain Juppe, Mayor of Bordeaux, and former President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The ruling Socialist party will declare its candidates in December this year. President François Hollande has not officially announced his participation in the race.
