(VOVworld) - Ensuring security for sports and cultural events, including fireworks festivals, concerts, and public dance events, scheduled for this summer is challenging French authorities following recent terrorist attacks. Authorities of some southeastern localities have decided to cancel their summer festivities while other cities are tightening security for their events.

Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that due to the current "war situation", when the conditions are not met to ensure maximum security, local governments can cancel some events. French authorities are cooperating with local administrations to maintain some important events.
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the Ministry has increased security nationwide by deploying 30,000 reservists and 10,000 soldiers from Operation Sentinelle. Heavily-armed police forces were deployed to 40 sensitive sites.
