A wave of attacks across Iraq, including a dozen car bombings, killed at least 26 people and wounded more than 90 on Sunday. The head of Baghdad’s provincial council barely escaped assassination in the capital. This year has seen Iraq’s worst violence since 2008. The Iraqi government has launched a series of large-scale campaigns targeting insurgents, but violence still continues day-to-day by armed forces who want to take advantage of Iraq’s political instability and the crisis in Syria to increase unrest.
