Germany, which currently holds the the G7 Presidency, proposed that the ministers set a target of phasing out polluting coal-fueled energy by 2030.
This proposal received support from other European countries and Canada, but some countries were cool toward the idea.
Japan refused to commit to a definite time frame for phasing out coal-fired power, while the US said it would do it by sometime in the '30s.
