At a working session with Ho Chi Minh city’s Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Friday/today, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam requested the city strengthen the management of illegal entries and the wearing masks in public places.

While speaking highly of the city’s efforts in battling COVID-19 over the recent months, Mr. Dam noted that neighboring countries are seeing complicated developments of COVID-19 and Ho Chi Minh City is at risk of infection.

“Lessons from other countries show that one crowded event can lead to the loss of control of the pandemic. In Vietnam we experienced smaller events causing great losses for society. At public events during the coming national holidays, pandemic prevention measures should be tightened, particularly wearing masks,” said Mr. Dam.
