(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam's economy recovered earlier than expected due to effective control of COVID-19, and its socio-economic gains have been widespread, said lawmakers on Friday.

Legislators, discussing the performance of the 2022 socio-economic development plan and the plan for next year, said agriculture was a bright spot in the economy and proved its role as the backbone of the national economy and food security. Vietnamese agricultural products have been strong in the world market. Last year’s export turnover reached 48 billion USD.

Le Thi Thanh Lam, a NA deputy for Hau Giang province, called on the Government to have a special investment policy for the agricultural provinces to create a balance between provinces. “The Government should make sure its agricultural planning is in line with the planning done by provinces and regions. Resources should be focused on developing and structuring agricultural production while improving quality and the efficiency of the value chain,” said Lam.

According to NA deputy Do Thi Lan for Quang Ninh province, “In order for businesses to overcome difficulties and address social security issues and socio-economic development, the Government should continue to remove difficulties for businesses by, for example, promulgating a tax relief policy until next year to help them recover and grow.”
Also high on the agenda were solutions to speed up the disbursement of public investment capital, curb inflation, accelerate the progress of national programs and solutions for the petroleum market, and policies and regimes for the health and education sectors.
Legislators also discussed issues of public concern such as the shortage of drugs and medical equipment, counterfeiting, and corruption.
