(VOVWORLD) - A grand ceremony is underway in Ho Chi Minh City to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30).

The event is organized by the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
Among the attendees are Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, former Party and State leaders, revolutionary veterans, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, Labor Heroes, and military generals, alongside representatives from political and mass organizations, contributors to the revolution.
Foreign guests include Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Cambodian People's Party and President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Vice President of Cuba Salvador Valdés Mesa; Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Ipatau Vadzim, and Chinese Minister of Veterans Affairs Pei Jinjia.
A welcome performance began at 6:25 AM, featuring ceremonial drums, rifle dances, and military music.

At 7:00 AM, a flag-salute ceremony was held, accompanied by a 21-gun salute at Bach Dang Wharf to the national anthem of Vietnam. Party General Secretary To Lam then delivered a speech.
At 8:00 AM, the military and civil parade began with a flyover by a helicopter squadron carrying the Party flag and the national flag, accompanied by fighter jets of the Vietnam People's Army flying over central HCM City.
Around 13,000 people took part in the parade, divided into 23 military formations, three militia formations, 12 police formations, 12 formations of mass organizations, and three foreign military formations from China, Laos, and Cambodia. The parade route stretches along Le Duan street, passing the Reunification Palace.
To ensure broad public access, 21 LED screens have been installed along the parade route for spectators.
The ceremony is broadcast live on Voice of Vietnam’s channels: VOV1, VOV2, VOV3, and VOV Traffic, as well as on the VOV.VN news site, VTC News, and VOV’s digital platforms, including vovworld.vn.
