Haiku poetry contest’s winners awarded
(VOVworld) – The awards ceremony for the Japanese Haiku poetry contest was held at Japan’s Embassy in Hanoi on Wednesday. The contest is organized by Japan Airlines Foundation (JAL), Japan’s Embassy, and Vietnam’s Haiku club. The organizing board granted prices to the authors of the 10 best poems.

The organizing board received 1,163 poems by students from 11 Japanese teaching schools in Vietnam. Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Fukuda said: “The contest aims to introduce the Japanese land and people to more Vietnamese people, especially the children. We have organized many other cultural and art events to help the people of both countries improve their understanding of each other and enhance friendship.”
Following 13 contests, the organizing board has received over 650,000 works from 50 countries. The best works will be translated into the language of the authors, Japanese, and English and published in a book called “Haiku by world children.
