Hanoi, UK cities share experience in creative city branding
(VOVWORLD) - The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports collaborated with the British Council in Vietnam to organize an international seminar titled “Creative City Hanoi - Building Brand and Developing Resources”.

The seminar provided an update on Hanoi’s development as a creative city in the field of design and tested models of building urban areas that incorporate cultural identity and ethnic heritage.
Upon joining the Creative Cities Network of UNESCO, the UK’s cities such as Belfast, Derry-Londonderry, and Dundee shared their experiences in brand-building.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong said that Hanoi is the first locality in Vietnam to issue a resolution on the development of the cultural industry, emphasizing the development of the Creative City.
The draft version of the revised Capital Law and the general planning for the construction of the capital until 2030 with a vision until 2050, also cover the development of the industry of culture and the Creative City, he said, adding Hanoi is gradually positioning itself as a Creative City brand to realize its vision of becoming the creative hub of Southeast Asia in the field of design.
Donna McGowan, Director of the British Council (BC) in Vietnam, said that the BC has been collaborating with Hanoi to honor it as a Creative City and to develop the industry of culture. She expressed hope that in the future, both sides will achieve their goals and missions, enabling Hanoi to realize its ambition as a Creative City in the field of design at a higher level.
