The public bicycle rental service, run by Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Transport and Tri Nam Group, will be carried out in 12 months on a pilot basis, with 43 stations and 500 bicycles in the central district.
The rent is 5,000 VND (22 US cents) for 30 minutes and 10,000 VND per hour. Free renting for the first 15 minutes of use will be applied during the first stage of the project to encourage users.
HCM city is planning to arrange cycle lanes to ensure safety.
