(VOVWORLD) - A test run was conducted on an elevated section of Ho Chi Minh City's Metro Line No.1 on Wednesday, according to the city's Management Authority for Urban Railways.

The pilot run was held on a section stretching nearly 9km, starting from Suoi Tien Coach Station to Binh Thai Station in Thu Duc city.
The metro line's train has a capacity of 930 passengers and a maximum speed of up to 110 kph above ground and 80 kph underground. During the pilot period, the train will travel at 40 kph.
The test run marks an important milestone in the construction of the metro line, which is 94% complete.
Metro Line No. 1 is the first urban railway line of 8 planned lines in Ho Chi Minh City with a total length of 20 km starting from Ben Thanh station (District 1) to Long Binh depot (Thu Duc City).
