Delivering a policy message at the event, General Secretary Lam reiterated Vietnam’s determination to clear institutional bottlenecks, develop science and technology and innovation, and focus on building institutions for green growth.

As a developing country, Vietnam is exerting strenuous efforts and making the best preparations for a development process that is fast, green, inclusive and sustainable, according to the Party chief.

“The path to achieving the goals must ensure the principles of sustainability, inclusiveness and harmony. Rapid development must go hand in hand with sustainability, high quality, and harmony between economic development, culture, society, environmental protection and climate change adaptation. National development must go hand in hand with international responsibility, contributing more and more to peace, stability, human happiness and global civilization. The development process must be people-centered, and people must enjoy all the fruits of development,” Mr. Lam said.

In his earlier opening speech at P4G,  Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said green transformation is Vietnam’s strategic choice in the current context.

“Participating in and enjoying the fruits of the green transformation is both the responsibility and the right of all countries. For Vietnam, in addition to digital transformation, we identify green transformation as an objective necessity, a key factor and a breakthrough driving force to achieve the goal of a high-income developing country by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045, honoring Vietnam's commitments made at COP26 to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.”

The Prime Minister put forth three proposals. They include green mindset, responsible green community, and international cooperation and public-private partnership.
