(VOVworld)- The international community has decried the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria, where opposition forces have accused the government of using chemical weapons to kill more than 1300 people near Damascus. The Chinese Foreign Ministry condemned chemical weapon use and called for UN chemical weapon experts to investigate the accusation. Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich said Moscow would voice an opinion on the issue based on the result of the UN investigation in Damascus. The UK Foreign Ministry said a thorough investigation is needed before concluding that chemical weapons have been used in Syria. The UN Security Council said transparency is needed and applauded Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for sending UN inspectors to Syria.
