(VOVworld) - Surapong Tovichakchaikul, the Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister said Wednesday that a number of countries have expressed support for Thailand's decision to hold a general election.
Tovichakchaikul, who is also Director of the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order, said the United States, China, Germany, Canada, and New Zealand have recently expressed concern about the political disorder in Thailand and hoped that the Thai government will seek a peaceful resolution by negotiating with the protesters.
They also hoped the general election on February 2 will help Thailand soon restore peace and stability.
