One day earlier, participants exchanged opinions on the current world situation and its impact on the East Sea conflict. They said every nation benefits from a peaceful and stable East Sea. All nations want to strengthen maritime economic cooperation to ensure maritime and aviation safety and freedom in the East Sea.
Several participants discussed efforts to resolve the conflict through peaceful means, including the recent ruling on the lawsuit between the Philippines and China. They also expressed concerns on China’s illegal construction of a military-length runway in artificial islands in the East Sea. Participants said all parties need to have a multi-lateral approach, strengthen forums on regional security, and abide by the international law.
The two-day event is jointly organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the Foundation for East Sea Studies (FESS) and the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association.
