Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, who chaired the event, said that the Vietnamese Government pledges to continue building a transparent and friendly investment environment for investors. He encouraged Belgian and European firms to hasten the signing and ratification of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), and called on investors to study opportunities to become strategic partners of Vietnamese state-owned enterprises during the equitisation and divestment process.
“The multi-faceted relations between Vietnam and Belgium and the EU will develop strongly thanks to the EVFTA and other FTAs about to take effect, and thanks to Vietnam’s great potential. We can become role models amid the protectionism and populism that are becoming popular in a number of countries,” Hue said.
The same day, the Deputy Prime Minister met with leaders of Belgian groups including AB InBev, Bekaert S.A, Pharma Group Vietnam, and The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).
