(VOVworld) - The US-led coalition in Iraq said it carried out an air strike Tuesday that destroyed a bridge over the Tigris river in central Mosul, preventing ISIS fighters from rotating their forces in the Iraqi city.

The strike leaves Mosul's oldest bridge, British-built, the only one of 5 still standing in the centre of the city. ISIS was using the destroyed bridge to re-supply their forces on the eastern side of the city and rotate their forces, according to coalition spokesman Colonel John Dorrian.
