(VOVworld) - Iraq's Parliament convened on Monday to vote on a new cabinet amid the country's military battle against the self-declared Islamic State in northern Iraq. Prime Minister-designate Haider al-Abadi promised to establish a new cabinet within 30 days, since his appointment on August 11, and the new proposed cabinet needs the approval of more than half of the parliament's members. If the new government is not approved by Wednesday, the President needs to appoint another candidate to become Prime Minister. The make-up of the cabinet has still not been revealed, but Abadi is expected to include representatives of all the country's religious and ethnic components in a bid to save Iraq from collapse.
