(VOVworld) – The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) poses a huge threat to the globe, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during an interview with the Egyptian state newspaper Al-Ahram on Sunday. Putin said the terrorists are trying to gain control over a huge part of Iraq and Syria with a population of nearly 10 million, adding they already threatened countries which are far from the Middle East region, such as France, Australia, and Canada. He said the strategy and tactics of the anti-terror coalition are disproportionate to the scale and nature of the existing threat. Moscow advocates the international coalition to fight terrorism on the basis of international law and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states.
