(VOVworld)- Israel's Ministerial Committee on Legislation approved on Sunday a bill aimed at impeding the Israeli government from releasing Palestinian prisoners. The bill, which was initiated by Ayelet Shakked from the hawkish Bayit Yehudi faction, proposed legislation which would allow the courts to impose the heavy sentence of life without parole and prevent Israel's president from pardoning such prisoners as part of future diplomatic overtures or prisoner swaps. This bill still needs to be approved by the Knesset, the Israeli government.
