(VOVWORLD) -99 members of the 120-seat Israeli Knesset voted Wednesday in support of a government decision made three days earlier to reject unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state.

In response, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry issued a statement reaffirming the State of Palestine's full membership in the UN and its recognition by other nations without the permission of Israel.
Last Sunday, the Palestinian Authority emphasized that a Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, is essential to resolving the Hamas-Israel conflict and ensuring stability in the region.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, head of the World Health Organization (WHO), expressed concern Wednesday about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, where many areas have been severely damaged. He emphasized the need for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and unhindered access to international aid.
