Italy and Vietnam established diplomatic ties in 1973. Since then, Sereni said, bilateral relations have reaped fruit in economics, trade, culture, education, and tourism. Bilateral trade has doubled in the past 3 years, making Vietnam the biggest ASEAN partner of Italy.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien shared the same view on growing bilateral ties. He praised the fine political relations, strong economic cooperation, and warm sentiment between the two countries. Thien informed participants about an Italy visit by the Vietnamese President and a Vietnam visit by the President of the Italian Senate by the end of this year.
