(VOVworld)- Two navy destroyers from the Japan Self-Defense Forces Shirayki arrived in St.Petersburg, Russia, on Wednesday. This is the first time in history that Japanese warships have docked here. Kasima, a training ship of the Japanese Navy, visited Russia in 2005 on the 150th anniversary of the start of Admiral Putiatina’s expedition. In an unofficial visit to Russia until August 4, Japanese soldiers will place wreaths at Piskarevsk cemetery, where 500 thousand Russians and Red Army soldiers are buried, learn about the traditions of the Russian fleet, and visit many tourism spots including Kuznetsov Naval Academy. A friendly football match was held to strengthen mutual understanding between the two countries’ navies.
