Japan's Kodo art introduced in Vietnam
(VOVworld) – The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Hanoi has introduced the art of Kodo or ‘way of fragrance’, one of the 3 major classical arts. Along with the development of Buddhism in Japan, the custom of burning incense or fragrant wood grew strongly in the 17 and 18th centuries.
It began with burning incense to cover up bad odors in a room. Today, Japanese people have developed the enjoyment of fragrance into an art. Kodo is the less-widely known than the other classical arts: sado (tea ceremony) and kado or ikebana (flower arrangement), so the Japanese are trying to promote it. Imaizumi Fusako is an artisan of the Kashiwa Aroma Club: "We want to introduce the art to Vietnamese people. Vietnam is home to Kyara wood, one of 6 fundamental fragrances in Kodo art".
