Japan’s ruling coalition poised to win a majority of seats
(VOVworld) – According to an exit poll conducted by the Kyodo news agency, the ruling coalition of Liberal Democratic (LDP) and Komeito parties is set to win a majority of seats in the ongoing elections to the parliament's upper house.

An upper house election is held every three years to contest half of the Diet’s 242 seats. In Sunday’s election, 73 seats were contested in constituencies and 48 were allotted through proportional representation. Final results are expected on Monday.
