VJA Vice President Ho Quang Loi said social networks have a large number of users and become an important news source.
Many media agencies have used social networks and fan-pages on Facebook to increase their interaction with the public. “Journalists provide information to the public. When we go onto social networks, we have to scan information to avoid spreading unverified information and misinterpretations. Reporters should not be recklessly guided by false information on social media.”
Dong Manh Hung, Head of the Voice of Vietnam’s Journalists Association, said the popularity of social networks has also posed challenges to news agencies, but have also created opportunities for reporters to approach the public and harvest information from diverse sources.
