A Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Washington said District Judge Carl Nichols of Washington set a hearing after China’s ByteDance company, TikTok’s owner, requested US court to prevent US President Donald Trump’s ban on TikTok app, which is set to take effect on Sunday night. Lawyers will debate on whether to keep Trump’s ban. Earlier, on September 19, a federal judge of San Francisco issued a preliminary ban, aimed at preventing a similar US Commerce Department order over Chinese Tencent Holdings' WeChat application.
TikTok on Wednesday filed for the suspension of the ban enacted by a President Trump’s order last month targeting the ByteDance's video platform and the WeChat messaging app. The ban was delayed by the US Department of Commerce a week after the parties agreed to work out a restructuring deal at the request of Trump, who was concerned that TikTok may disturb US national security.
