(VOVworld) – The construction of the Khmer Theravada Buddhist Institute in O Mon district, Can Tho City, began on Saturday.

Covering an area of 7 hectares, the Institute is to cater for learning needs of Khmer Buddhist followers in the Mekong River Delta as well as from other neighboring countries like Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. Deputy Secretary General of the Institute’s Executive Board, monk Ly Hung, said: “The construction has received support from donors, especially the Khmer Theravada Buddhist dignitaries and followers. This is the 4th Institute of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha with international connectivity.
Khmer Theravada Buddhist Institute is expected to open by the end of 2018.
