Lam Dong province urged to further attract investment
(VOVworld) – The Central Highlands Steering Committee has urged Lam Dong provincial authorities to further develop party cells in hamlets and attract investment, while offering coffee growers preferential loans for expanding growing areas. Deputy Head of the Steering Committee Tran Viet Hung made the remarks at a meeting on Thursday to review the province’s socio-economic performance in the first half of the year. He urged the local authorities to speed up activities to promote the Central Highlands - Da Lat National Tourism Year 2014, strengthen forestry management and protection, and effectively address pending issues regarding hydro-power plant resettlement compensations.
The Committee’s Deputy Head praised provincial socio-economic achievements over the past 6 months, with more than 120 million USD earned from agriculture, forestry, and fishery in total, up 28% from last year. The province also saw strong growth in trade and service activities with the number of visitors estimated at 2.3 million. Lam Dong now has 4 communes that completed all 19 criteria of the national program for new rural development, while its policies and programs to support social beneficiaries and people with difficulties are guaranteed, contributing to social order and security.
