The program, entitled “Posture of Vietnam” read a letter written by President Ho Chi Minh, declaring July 27 as War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, and recalled a meeting on this day 70 years ago in Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province. Lieutenant General Khuat Duy Tien, who fought on the Quang Tri battlefield, said: “The American imperialists destroyed the Quang Tri ancient citadel in 1972. The bodies of many of our soldiers are buried there. The war was brutal”.
The program also featured revolutionary songs, reports, and documentary films on the sacrifice of the invalids and martyrs, and encouraged further efforts to pay the debt of gratitude to revolutionary contributors. Mr. Ninh Duc Thai of Hanoi, whose son died during the war, said: “I had told myself that wherever my son’s body was, it was on the land of Vietnam. Today, I was very moved to be informed about the grave of my son in Dong Nai province”.
