(VOVWORLD) - People should take precautions to protect themselves from the Covid-19 epidemic, and authorities should be prepared to respond to any new development, said Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on Monday at a meeting of Hanoi’s steering board for Covid-19 prevention and control.

"Heads of districts and agencies should be on high alert day and night and be ready to respond immediately to new Covid-19 developments," Mr. Chung said.
Attractions such as the Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison, and Ngoc Son temple have temporarily closed for disinfection.
Ha Long city in Quang Ninh province, in collaboration with local hospitals, will provide free examinations for locals. Doctor Pham Thanh Quang of Bai Chay hospital said: "We have sent 21 doctors and nurses to support four communes in the city to help detect Covid-19 infections. We are focusing on initial symptoms such as coughing, fever, and breathing difficulty. We are also seeking to find out whether anyone had prior contact with an infected person."
In Lao Cai province, 17 people suspected of having Covid-19 tested negative for the virus. These people included four British passengers on flight VN0054 which arrived in Vietnam last Monday and four people who had direct contact with a British couple who have tested positive for the virus.
