(VOVworld) – The Prime Minister has approved the investment plan for the construction of Long Thanh International Airport.
In the first phase, Long Thanh International Airport will be built in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Nai with an investment of 7.8 billion USD for the first phase.
The airport, covering an area of 5,000 hectares, will be an aviation hub for Vietnam and Southeast Asia. It is projected to handle 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year by 2025 to reduce the current overload at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Its capacity will grow to 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year by 2030.
The Prime Minister has authorized the Minister of Transport to submit the plan to the National Assembly in October.
