PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc witnesses the signing of an agreement on the appointment of Luke Nguyen (R) as Vietnam Airlines' global food ambassador in Sydney, Australia, on March 16, 2018.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Sydney this week under the witness of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. Under the three-year deal, Luke Nguyen will help improve the quality of meals served on Vietnam Airlines’ flights and creating 8 new regional specialties to serve business class passengers. He will also hlep popularize Vietnamese food to international friends via cultural and trade programs in various countries. 

Australia is a strategic market of Vietnam Airlines’ long-term development plan. In 2017 the carrier transported more than 460,000 passengers, an increase of 42% against the previous year.

Vietnam Airlines opened a direct route to Australia in 1995 and now operates 17 flights per week on Boeing 787s to the country. It is currently the sole Vietnamese carrier to run direct flights to Sydney.
