(VOVworld) - NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung received NA deputies of different generations in Hanoi on Tuesday as part of activities to mark the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s first General Election (January 6, 1946).

Addressing the event, Chairman Hung recalled the legislature’s 70-year history, stressing the resounding success of the 1946 General Election which received strong support from the public.
He said the election illustrated the national solidarity, becoming an important premise for raising Vietnam’s position in the international arena, contributing to the national struggles for independence, and today’s construction as well as international integration.
Mr. Hung said each NA deputy should be proud to represent the will and aspirations of voters nationwide.
On Monday, a similar meeting with veteran NA deputies was held in Kien Giang.
During 13 tenures of the National Assembly, Kien Giang has 79 deputies who have done their utmost for the stabilization and development of the province and the nation as a whole.
At a meeting the same day, Bac Ninh NA deputies reviewed the historical significance of the first General Election, its tradition over the past 70 years, and contributions of Bac Ninh National Assembly delegations.
Meanwhile Le Dinh Son, Secretary of Ha Tinh provincial Party Committee, focused on contributions of NA deputies to the local development. He took this occasion to present medals for the cause of the Vietnamese National Assembly in honor of 10 outstanding deputies.
Hau Giang NA delegation gathered at a ceremony on Monday and reviewed their performance during the 2011-2016 term.
