(VOVworld)- The Mexican Foreign Ministry highly appreciated the first Vietnam-Latin America Trade and Investment Forum. In a press release, the Mexican Foreign Ministry stated that Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s chairmanship at the event in Hanoi reflected Vietnam’s readiness to be a major economic partner of countries in the West and serve as a bridge linking East Asia with Latin America. The trade turnover between Vietnam and Latin America has increased by between 20 and 30% annually totaling 5 billion USD in 2011. Vietnam has become an important Asian partner of Mexico with the two-way trade value increasing from 37 million USD to more than 1 trillion USD in the past decade. The Mexican Foreign Ministry’s statement recalled a speech by a Mexican representative at the forum, Mr. Nathan Wolf, who thanked Vietnam’s support for Mexico in the latter’s negotiation to join the Trans Pacific Partnership considering it a motivation to boost the bilateral economic and trade ties.
