Mid-Autumn festival is celebrated nationwide

(Tien Phong newspaper/VOV) – A gala night was held in Hanoi to help 500 children representing various cities and provinces celebrate this year’s Mid-Autumn festival. Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan wished the children a joyous festival and encouraged them to study hard to make their parents happy and contribute to the nation.

More than 1,000 children of Ly Son district, Quang Ngai province, attended a festival reviving folklore associated with mid-autumn legends. The program fostered bonds between people of the mainland and the people of Ly Son island.

Leaders of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights, and Quang Ngai province awarded 1,000 scholarships to disadvantaged children and 6,000 gifts to island children. Tran Thi Thanh Thanh, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights, says: "The Association reaches to disadvantaged children, especially those in remote regions. We want to help them fully enjoy their rights and prevent violations of children’s rights."

The Sharing The Life volunteer club gave 600 gifts and scholarships to children in Tay Giang mountain district, Quang Nam province.
