(VOVWORLD) -The Israeli war cabinet on Monday reviewed military plans for a potential response to Iran's weekend missile and drone attack, an official said.
The war cabinet is determined to act, but it is not clear at this point if a decision has been made.
In an unsourced report, Israel’s Channel 12 claimed the war cabinet decided to hit back “clearly and forcefully” against Iran with a response designed to send the message that Israel “will not allow an attack of that magnitude against it to pass without a reaction.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday afternoon summoned his war cabinet for the second time in less than 24 hours to weigh how to react to Iran's first-ever direct attack on Israel. Earlier, Netanyahu said Israel will respond calmly and with determination.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel was “legitimate”.
