United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said terrorism is more difficult to resolve with every passing day, adding that no country can tackle this challenge alone. Ban said member states have to enhance their cooperation and exchange information, develop effective border controls, and strengthen their legal systems, in accordance with the rule of law and human rights standards.
He warned that since mid-2014, the flow of foreign terrorist fighters into the ranks of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and other extremist groups, has swelled by 70 percent. He called on member states to concentrate on socio-economic development, labors’ live improvement, and the most effective measures to prevent people from joining terrorist organizations, contributing to dispelling terrorism globally.
