Myriad of traditional Tet rituals re-created in Hanoi

(VOVWORLD) - A series of cultural activities will be re-created as part of a program to welcome Tet, the lunar New Year, 2023 to promote Hanoi's history, culture, and tourism to domestic and international tourists.

At the opening ceremony on Sunday, art troupes from Bac Lieu and Phu Tho province and Hai Phong city introduced the traditional music of their region.

A ritual to report to the tutelary god, a ceremony to worship craft ancestors, and a ceremony to erect the Nêu pole, a tall bamboo pole decorated with red strips of cloth to ward off evil spirits during Tet, were re-enacted.

The Heritage House in on Ma May Street re-created the traditional Tet customs of an old Hanoi family.

Visitors to the Cultural Exchange Center of Hanoi’s Old Quarter at 50 Dao Duy Tu Street can listen to songs of Bac Lieu province and experience the music heritage of northern Vietnam.

At the Center for Arts and Culture in Hang Buom Street, there are decoration and traditional music exchange activities.

From now until January 20, at the mural space on Phung Hung Street, artisans from Vietnamese craft villages will introduce traditional folk products.

Tet cultural activities will run through January 28, or the seventh day of the first lunar month.
