(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue applauded the support of the US Congress’s two political parties and the visiting congresspeople for strengthening Vietnam-US relations.

NA Chairman Hue on Wednesday received a US Senate delegation led by Kirsten Gillibrand, chairwoman of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Personnel, in Hanoi on Wednesday. He said this second visit to Vietnam by US Congress members this year, after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, shows that the two have actively implemented their new partnership and achieved many specific and substantive results. Senator Gillibrand said the two countries’ Comprehensive Strategic Partnership indicates that Vietnam is the leading partner of the United States in the Indo-Pacific region.
The two sides agreed to promote cooperation in all channels and all fields, including innovation, artificial intelligence, human resource training, semiconductors, energy transition, supply chain, people-to-people diplomacy via education.
The NA Chairman said he hopes that the US will soon remove Vietnam from the list of 12 non-market economies, and at the same time share experiences in building institutions, policies, and capital and technology support for Vietnam to deliver on its climate change response commitments.
Discussing the global and regional situation, National Assembly Chairman Hue and Senator Gillibrand stressed the need to strengthen responsible cooperation with the Asia-Pacific region, through the Indo-Pacific Strategy and regional initiatives, continue to strongly demonstrate commitment to support ASEAN’s centrality.
Chairman Hue proposed that the two sides consider establishing regular dialogue, exchange and coordination mechanisms between the two legislatures and their agencies.
