(VOVworld) – National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung pledges to continue improving the quality and effectiveness of the National Assembly’s operation. In an interview with Vietnam News Agency on the Lunar New Year 2013, Hung said the NA is determined to successfully perform its 3 functions of legislation, supervision and policy making. The NA Chairman said 2013 is the transitional year to a new stage of development and to the implementation of the 5-year plan until 2015. He underlined this year’s targets: stabilizing macro-economy with lower inflation and higher growth than in 2012. The 3 strategic breakthroughs should be implemented and combined with restructuring the economy and shifting the growth model, while ensuring social welfare. Hung stressed the need to improve the effectiveness of external relations activities and international integration, paving the way for further development. The NA Chairman added that in addition building laws and ordinances for 2013, the NA is tasked with approving the amended Constitution and holding votes of confidence for officials elected or ratified by the NA. Chairman Hung said he believed that Vietnam with unity of the Party, the people and army will overcome all challenges to move forward.
