Law makers said stipulations in the current Law on Anti-corruption remain inadequate and ineffective.

They discussed the obligation to declare property and the responsibility of auditors, inspectors, and competent authorities to uncover and deal with cases of corruption.

Tran Tat The, a deputy for Ha Nam province talked about expanding the scope of the law revisions: "I agree with expanding the scope of the draft Law on Anti-Corruption to the non-state sector. The expansion is in line with the UN Convention on Anti- Corruption of which Vietnam is a member. The convention has specific stipulations on preventing corruption in the private sector."

Nguyen Thi Thuy, a deputy for Bac Kan province, proposed measures to better handle corrupted property: "Corruption is a special crime that requires special procedures to deal with. Even countries that are anti-corruption role models can’t recover 100% of corrupted property. It’s essential to develop mechanisms to facilitate the recovery of corrupted property, which should be done strictly and transparently through judicial procedures."
