(VOVWORLD) -The National Assembly on Tuesday adopted the revised Law on Competition, the Cyber Security Law, and the revised Law on Denunciation.
The Law on Cyber Security was approved with 86.86 percent of votes. It has 7 chapters and 43 articles, regulating activities to protect national security and ensure social order and safety on cyberspace, and responsibilities of agencies, organisations and individuals concerned.
Voter Nguyen Cong An from Quang Tri province said with the cybersecurity law in place, people will have to think twice before posting information on the internet.
“The cybersecurity law will help authorities better handle internet use. It also provides a tool to impose stricter punishments against those who take advantage of the internet to sabotage the state and cause social instability,” Mr. An said.
Voter Vu Van Nhan from Nha Trang city said the cybersecurity law is necessary in creating a legal basis for a healthy cyberspace.
“Each country has its own regulations. The law will provide a guideline for internet users,” Mr. Nhan added.
The same day, lawmakers passed a resolution approving the State budget balance in 2016. Chairman of the NA Finance-Budget Committee Nguyen Duc Hai said total budget revenues stood at 61 billion USD in 2016.
“The government worked hard to ensure macro-economic stability, control inflation, promote productivity, and strengthen social security. Despite the reduction of crude oil prices and tax, budget revenues were collected as projected. Deputies pointed out some shortcomings that the government needs to address,” Mr. Hai said.
