NA Vice Chairwoman praises UNDP assistance
Vietnam, as a responsible member of the international community, is determined to implement its Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and needs assistance from the international community, especially UN agencies, in implementing its action programmes.
National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan told new UNDP Country Director in Vietnam, Louise Chamberlain that she hoped for more practical contributions by the UN Agency to the relationship between UN and Vietnam. Ms. Ngan thanked the UNDP for its assistance to Vietnam in strengthening the country’s legal frameworks, administrative reform, managerial decentralization, and public financial management. Chamberlain said that the UNDP will continue to assist Vietnam in hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and mitigating the impact of disasters, climate change, and the global economic crisis.
