(VOVworld) – The 13th National Assembly opened its seventh session in Hanoi on Tuesday attended by Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, and 500 deputies.

In his opening speech, Chairman Hung said the session is taking place in the context of complicated developments in the region and the world. At this session, deputies will consider 11 draft laws for approval and give opinions on 16 others. They will discuss socio-economic situations of last year and this year and the implementation of the revised resolution 35 on votes of confidence on officials elected or appointed by the National Assembly or People’s Council.
Also on the agenda is the East Sea situation. Chairman Hung said: “During this session the National Assembly will hear and discuss the government’s report on the East Sea situation. We will give opinions on this issue in the spirit of taking every possible step to protect national sovereignty while maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development and preserving the traditional friendship between the people of Vietnam and China.”
Hung added that the National Assembly will look into the reports of its agencies, the Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court, and the Head of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

On Monday, deputies listened to a government report providing additional assessments of socio-economic development plans and state budget implementation for 2013 and the early months of 2014 and a verification report by the National Assembly's Economic Committee. A Vietnam Fatherland Front representative presented a report on the opinions voters have sent to the National Assembly. On the first day of the session, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh delivered a report on the East Sea situation.
