(VOVworld) – September 2, 1945, marked the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. That day opened a new era of national independence and socialism in Vietnam’s history. Vietnamese people have learned lessons from the August Revolution, which have helped to develop a more prosperous country. Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Editor-in-chief of the Science and Society Journal, said: “The establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam brought many valuable lessons for Vietnam’s renewal, construction, and defense. These lessons are about combining the strength of national unity and time and grasping opportunities. The opportunity 70 years ago was to launch a general uprising to wrest back power and today it is time to boost modernization, industrialization, and international integration. The August Revolution and National Day represent the strength of Vietnamese people”.

The successful August Revolution turned the Vietnamese from slaves into masters of their own nation’s destiny. Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Trong Phuc, former Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Institute of Politics and Public Administration, said: “After Vietnam’s Declaration of Independence was announced, President Ho Chi Minh’s foreign policy was one of national independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification. Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner and a responsible member of the international community, contributing to peace, cooperation, and the development of all nations. This is the opportunity for Vietnam’s further development and international integration to make the most of the world’s advanced technology and raise its global status.”
